Think and Act Like an Olympian: Takeaways from Vaughan

posted in Past Presentation Slides

I’ll be honest—I didn’t expect that level of resonance.

After the keynote, more than 20 team members stood up to share takeaways from the full day of training… and what struck me most was how many of them connected with the hard truths we had wrestled through together:

  • Collect your no’s
  • Failure is part of the journey
  • Be a student of the business
  • Work through the winters
  • Don’t be afraid of hard work
  • Think and act like an Olympian
  • Aim for the top and take others with you
  • Change your mindset, change your reality

That’s why I do this work—not to talk at people, but to help spark conversations that stick.

One RBC leader pulled me aside afterward and said:
“I’ve never seen anyone integrate our sales training and culture so naturally. That was outstanding.”

But the real reward wasn’t the compliment. It was watching team members lean into growth—sharing their own stories, rethinking their approach, and pushing themselves to the next level.

I tailor every keynote to the group I’m speaking with for this aim: Inspire. Educate. Entertain. Serve.

This is what matters: inspiring people to see possibility, to stretch, and to walk out ready to lead with more clarity and confidence.

The real reward? The conversations that happened after the keynote. People looking to break out of career ruts, elevate their sales game, and lead with more clarity. Those are the moments that matter.

To the RBC team – if you want a copy of the slides from my keynote, you can download them [here] or by clicking on the slide below.

And if you’re looking to keep the conversation going—with your team or your leaders or know another conference looking for an unforgettable keynote speaker—I’d love to help.
